The short version

HomeTiles does not collect any data. Full stop.

There is no account to create, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, and no third-party SDK bundled into the app. Golka runs no server for it, so nothing about your home is ever sent to us. The only things that leave your iPhone are your widget layouts, synced to your own other devices through your own iCloud — and, when you tap a tile you set up as a control, the command to your own home.

What follows spells that out in the terms the App Store review process expects.

Data the app collects

None.

HomeTiles has no server. It is not connected to any backend operated by Golka or by anyone else, so there is no mechanism by which usage data, personal data, or diagnostic data could reach us — even accidentally.

Data the app reads

To do its job, HomeTiles reads accessory readings and names from HomeKit — temperature, humidity, air quality, contact and motion sensors, and the current state of lights, switches and thermostats — with your permission, granted the first time you open the app and revocable at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → HomeKit.

These readings are stored only in the app’s private container on your device, shared between the app and its widgets so a widget can show the latest values. They are never transmitted and never synced to iCloud.

Controlling accessories

A tile only ever controls something if you set it up that way in the widget designer — turning a light or switch on or off, stepping a value such as brightness or a target temperature, switching a thermostat mode, or running a scene. Every other tile is read-only.

When you tap such a tile, the command goes from your device straight to your own HomeKit home, exactly as if you had tapped the accessory in Apple’s Home app. Nothing about it is sent to Golka or anyone else.

The layouts you design — sizes, grids, which accessory goes in which tile, colours and icons — are stored on your device and, if iCloud is on, synced between your own devices through Apple’s iCloud, under your own Apple Account. Golka has no access to that storage and runs no server of its own.

To find the same accessory again on your other devices, a layout remembers a short description of each accessory it uses — its room, its name and what kind of reading it is. It never contains live readings. If you turn iCloud off for HomeTiles, layouts simply stay on each device.

You can export a layout as a .hometiles file and send it to someone — a family member, say — through the standard iOS share sheet. The file holds only the layout and those accessory descriptions, never live readings. You choose whether and with whom to share it; HomeTiles does not upload it anywhere.

Third parties

There are none. No analytics provider, no crash reporter, no advertising network, no embedded SDKs.

Purchasing the app is handled entirely by Apple. Golka receives only the sales reports Apple provides to every developer, which are aggregated and contain no information identifying you. Apple’s handling of your purchase and of iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not this one.

Children

HomeTiles collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device. Synced layouts live in your own iCloud account, not with us, so there is nothing held by Golka to delete, and so nothing to request.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes any of this, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described plainly rather than buried.
